Mog The Forgetful Cat Announces New Stage Musical And UK Tour

One of Britain’s best-loved children’s book characters is heading to the stage in 2027, with a brand-new musical production set to tour theatres across the UK.

And for families who grew up reading these stories, there’s a chance to introduce a new generation to a very familiar feline.

Mog the Forgetful Cat, based on the much-loved books by Judith Kerr, is being turned into a new musical play, with performances running from 11 February to 19 September 2027.

The show will open at the Rose Theatre in Kingston upon Thames from 11 to 21 February, before travelling to venues around the country. It will also enjoy a London run at the Unicorn Theatre from 13 July to 8 August 2027.

The new adaptation will bring Mog’s adventures to life through puppetry and original music, with plenty of the little mishaps that have made her such a popular character. W

e’ll follow the forgetful cat as she finds herself caught up in another adventure, discovering along the way that being different can sometimes be a wonderful thing.

The production has been adapted by Miranda Larson, with music by Eamonn O’Dwyer and direction from Christopher Haydon. It’s being produced by the team behind the popular stage version of Judith Kerr’s The Tiger Who Came to Tea.

Mog has been entertaining children for more than 55 years, and this new show promises a family-friendly introduction to her world.
