A much-loved children’s story is heading back to the London stage this Christmas, bringing two very determined characters and one rather important chair with it.
There’s a Bear on My Chair will play the Queen Elizabeth Hall from 9 December 2026 until 3 January 2027, returning after previously entertaining families at the Southbank Centre.
The show is based on Ross Collins’ popular books There’s a Bear on My Chair and There’s a Mouse in My House.
The story begins when poor Mouse discovers that Bear has settled into his favourite chair and apparently has no intention of moving. Mouse tries everything he can think of to reclaim his seat, before the tables eventually turn and Bear finds himself dealing with a rather cheeky visitor of his own.
Toby Olié has adapted and directed the production, using puppetry to bring Bear and Mouse to life on stage. His previous theatre work includes The BFG and Spirited Away, while he was also part of the original puppetry team behind War Horse.
The 50-minute show has no interval and is recommended for children aged two to seven, along with their grown-ups. Performances will take place across the Christmas holidays, with selected days having both morning and afternoon shows.
