A much-loved children’s story is heading back to the stage in 2027, with a huge new UK and Ireland tour now announced.
The family production will visit 23 venues so far, with even more dates expected to be added.
Zog and the Flying Doctors will open at Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch before travelling across the UK and Ireland. The new tour follows the show’s previous run in 2024 and brings Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler’s bestselling story back to theatres.
The adventure follows Zog after he finally earns his gold star at dragon school and heads off with Princess Pearl and Sir Gadabout. Together, they travel around helping different creatures, while Pearl is determined to prove that a princess really can become a doctor.
Those of us heading along can expect the story to be brought to life using beautifully crafted puppets and playful storytelling. The production also features original songs by Joe Stilgoe, creating a musical adventure designed for the whole family.
Zog and the Flying Doctors is presented by Freckle Productions in association with Rose Theatre. The stage show is based on Donaldson and Scheffler’s 2016 book, which was later adapted into a BBC One animated Christmas special in 2020.
The 2027 tour will visit a further 22 venues after opening at Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch, with the complete schedule and additional dates still to be announced.
